there is no data specification or metadata available for reliably mapping between the two/ a lot of employees were already starting to move files to O365 on their own which could potentially cause file duplication and conflicts when executing an automated migration. We also had some factors prohibiting the file migration e.g. OneDrive for personal files, MS Teams for group files. This was largely due to the fact that G-Drive is driven by a flat structure where all files are stored on the same level, whereas O365 is driven by multiple solutions with specific purposes e.g. I did this for a company last year and after thumbing through nearly all automated programs we decided to have users perform a self-service file migration.
